Zeroing In: What do our customers really think?
In this episode of Zeroing In, our team visited some of our valued customers to find out how electric is working in real time in their everyday operations.
They answer key questions that all operators may be wondering when starting their journey to electrification. What are the challenges? What has surprised them? What would they do differently?
Seeing electric vehicles in practice is what truly shows they work.
Keuhne + Nagel
We start the video at Keuhne + Nagel, at their East Midlands Gateway site. Jess, our Customer Experience Manager talks to Chris Jennings, National Road Logistics Transport Manager, about K+N’s roadmap to 2030, where they would like 60% of their fleet to be electric.
He notes that K+N didn’t face as many challenges as they were expecting and along with the crucial support from their key partnerships early on, the transition has been running smoothly.
With the smooth transition and positive feedback from drivers, having electric trucks as part of their fleet is now business as usual at Keuhne + Nagel.
UCLS
We then join Grahame Neagus, our Head of LCV at UCLS in Wolverhampton to see how their first two years with electric vans has really been.
Ranjit Singh, Head of Operations, notes that it was a customer led decision to start turning their fleet towards electric. Ricky Sharma, CEO of UCLS, highlights that it all came together for them at the perfect time. The demand was there, their customers were supportive and the aftercare was already in place.
At UCLS, they want to do their part to lower their carbon footprint and leave a better world for the next generation.
Welch’s
Finally, we join Jack Millington, our Energy Transition Manager, at Welch’s Transport in Duxford. A family run haulage business always keen to stay ahead, Welch’s has bolstered their sustainability credentials with their impressive electric fleet.
Chris Welch, Managing Director, points out that although their first electric vehicles joined the fleet three years ago, that decision had been years in the making. With 99% uptime, their fleet of E-Tech Renault Trucks have seamlessly fit into everyday operations. They’ve realised it’s actually pretty easy to incorporate electric vehicles into the fleet if you have the right partnerships.
For Welch’s Transport, it was about gaining real world experience that allowed them to plan for the future, and turns out, it really hasn’t been that scary.
What’s Next: The Zeroing In Series
Future episodes will reveal how collaboration — across teams, sites, and industry partners — is key to a seamless transition to electric fleets.
With Renault Trucks, operators have a trusted partner guiding them every step of the way toward zero-emission transport.
