Zeroing In: Product Evolution

Since Renault Trucks first introduced its electric trucks in 2019, technology has developed and this is reflected in our electric vehicle lineup. Today, Renault Trucks have electric vehicles on UK roads, ranging from 3.5 ton vans through to 44 ton tractor units.

In this episode of Zeroing In, Roger Clarke, Head of Electromobility, takes us through the evolution of the Renault Trucks products.

The E-Tech lineup

Roger runs us through the current lineup, starting at the lighter end:

  • E-Tech Master - available in more than 40 different configurations, with 460 km of range and highly efficient energy consumption.

In the rigid lineup, Renault Trucks has also introduced a 14 ton option:

  • D14 - specifically developed around urban and city distribution work with a turning radius of less than 7.3 m, and it comes with a 43 kW AC onboard charger.

We also have trucks available at 16, 18 and 26 tons, as well as heavy duty rigids that can operate at up to 44 tons.

Moving into longer distance operations

Roger highlights that we're also seeing electric trucks moving into longer distance operations.

For the UK market:

  • T540, up to 450 km of range

  • T585, up to 460 km of range

  • T780, up to 600 km of range

Roger continues to explain that they’re all fitted with high energy density NCA lithium-ion batteries, designed thanks to Renault Trucks’ new integrated electric axle technology, a compact electric driveline that means more space for additional batteries. The batteries come with a guaranteed battery performance of up to 8 years or 1 million km.

Support and services

All our electric trucks are supported by Renault Trucks customer-focused services and support, designed to give operators peace of mind in their transition to electric.

  • Serenity pack - provides full repair and maintenance cover, including the traction batteries, along with battery performance promises.

  • Predict - our connected services, anticipates parts wear and failures ahead of dashboard warning lights, putting you ahead of breakdowns.

  • Optifleet - our in-house telematics, which creates the data to monitor your electric vehicle, along with highly regarded KPI dashboards.

  • Driver app, specifically for our E-Tech Ts so drivers can check charging status and remotely prepare their vehicles for the day ahead.

Government support

Roger finishes by saying, the Renault Trucks E-Tech range is already proving what electric trucks can do across urban, regional and longer-haul operations.

And with a billion pounds of government support now available, the Zero Emissions Truck Grant can seriously reduce the upfront cost of commercial electric vehicles.

The Time to go electric is now.

What’s Next: The Zeroing In Series

Future episodes will reveal how collaboration — across teams, sites, and industry partners — is key to a seamless transition to electric fleets.

With Renault Trucks, operators have a trusted partner guiding them every step of the way toward zero-emission transport.

EV Discovery Programme

For many operators, one of the biggest barriers to electrification isn't cost or ambition, it’s simply never having the chance to try an electric vehicle in real-world operations. That's the exact problem the Vertellus EV Discovery Programme is designed to solve.
