Zeroing In: Why does aftersales matter more than ever?
Electric trucks need less maintenance, but aftersales matters more than ever. For any truck operator, availability counts, and Renault Trucks have been operating electric trucks for several years now.
In this episode, Jess Sawbridge, our Customer Experience Manager, zeros in how electric trucks are looked after and how they’re supported on the road.
In the workshop
Jess takes us through how a workshop is different when an electric truck comes in. You’re dealing with high-voltage systems, battery tech and electric drivetrains – alongside the rest of the vehicle.
Across the Renault Trucks dealer network, workshops and technicians have been prepared specifically for electric vehicles, including:
- EV-ready bays
- Specialist equipment
- Clearly defined high-voltage safety procedures
- Dedicated training
Electric trucks aren’t treated as a special case, the preparations allow support for E-Tech vehicles in everyday operations.
Connectivity is key
Jess continues to highlight that across the Renault Trucks aftersales network, connected services are already being used to monitor vehicle condition and plan maintenance.
For E-Tech, the following information is all available remotely while the truck is on the move:
- Battery condition
- System status
- Performance data
This feeds into Predict, Renault Trucks’ connected service designed to maximise uptime, and because this information is available remotely, many issues can be resolved without the truck coming into the workshop.
It’s about keeping maintenance planned, disruption low, and vehicles on the road.
Protecting the lifeblood
The battery is the lifeblood of an electric truck, so it’s condition is top priority.
As part of routine servicing, technicians carry out detailed battery health inspections:
- Checking the physical condition
- Available energy capacity
- Thermal management system performance
Predict also provides 24/7 visibility of battery condition while the truck is in operation, reducing the risk of unexpected downtime.
Electric trucks may need less maintenance, but uptime still depends on aftersales.
As Jess points out, for Renault Trucks customers, electric trucks simply means business as usual.
What’s Next: The Zeroing In Series
Future episodes will reveal how collaboration — across teams, sites, and industry partners — is key to a seamless transition to electric fleets.
With Renault Trucks, operators have a trusted partner guiding them every step of the way toward zero-emission transport.
